About the Conference
The conference to be hosted by Hazel Squire (Associate Adviser Equality and Diversity Adults Children & Learning, West Sussex County Council) on behalf of Breaking Down Barriers is aimed at highlighting the work being done by a group of individuals who are making a remarkable difference in the delivery of Equality and Diversity Training in the South East. The conference will explore different modes of Diversity and we will share examples of real life situations of people living in the community courtesy of a selection of speakers from Breaking Down Barriers.
The conference is in association with the Sussex Police Authority.
The theme for the day will be Working Together - Making the Difference with keynote addresses from representatives of these areas:

The 2010 Conference offers participants the chance to:
- Listen to accounts of life as experienced by someone who is in a minority or just perceived by the majority to be different and learn the skills to apply best practice when engaging with them
- Identify where partnership working needs to be happening in order to deliver inclusive services
- Challenge their own biases and stereotypes
- Explore assumptions, attitudes and behaviours
- Look at how prejudice and discrimination manifests itself
- The opportunity to both the statutory and voluntary sectors to engage with services supporting victims of hate crime, and thereby contribute to the development of an inclusive hate crime service which offers real hope to those suffering in silence
